I remember trying to explain this to someone once in high-school when they tried to use it as a statement about how men are such pigs. No matter what I said, though, they didn’t seem able to grasp the fact that it was simply impossible (leaving out different interpretations of sex and same-sex encounters) for there to be that kind of discrepancy. Since the fact that these surveys clearly involved false reporting didn’t jive with this person’s view that all men were skirt-chasing bastards, she chose not to accept that there might be something wrong with the survey answers. It was an awfully confusing conversation.

2. Fair enough but you still don’t know they’d win. If Palin is as terrible as you think she is, that seems to increase the odds they’ll be one-termers. (And if they aren’t, maybe she’s not.)

1. He would also assume one of the most stressful and demanding jobs in the country. If anything, I would adjust it upwards.

2. News to me, but I’m not going to let vague recollections of rumors affect my decision. For all I know, the ticket would be the same.

1. Actuarial tables are based on national averages or something similar. But this is a wealthy Senator who presumably has the best medical care available at his disposal. So you’d probably have to correct that 39% number downward somewhat.

2. Who says he’s even running for a second term? If he did, who says he’d keep Palin on the ticket? If he did, who says he’d win? Actually I seem to recall hearing talk about him intending only one term. For this calculation it’s probably best to only factor in the 4 years of one-term.

3. As to your final question, as of now I’d probably rather see Sarah Palin become President than any of the other 3 people on the two tickets.

Those Chinese are just very amoral sometimes. They have now exploited this poor little girl. It’s child labor at this most hidden. He Kexin is no more that 12 years old. Her hip and muscular structure are those of a very young girl. China should immediately give back the gold medals and remove the entire cheating Chinese gymnastics teams. Of course, the Chinese Gymnastics coach will have make a full apology to the world. He may have been under intense political pressure to win gold. I feel sorry for him. He will probably be sent to a prison camp for humiliating the government.
